I started making Instruments while studying for my Masters Degree in Painting at Hunter College in New York City. The original impetus was simply my interest in challenging music and sound works. Halfway through my degree I switched gears and started to engage with sound in my work.
The early instruments were made from whatever materials were on hand, cellos made from styrofoam blocks and played with rubber tubes, percussion instruments made from light bulbs and circular saw blades, boxes strung with wire that were pummeled by motors, etc.
