“This is video documentation from the production of Jocelyne Prince’s conceptual glass series called Sound Wave. In the piece, molten glass is poured into a solid blown glass vessel. Then it is fitted with an apparatus that holds a speaker whose sound is directed into the molten glass in the receptacle. Live musical performances on single instruments are miked and directed into the molten glass. The sound creates waves or striations in the glass which are recorded as the glass solidifies.”
